Our new Indo-Pacific Business Development team member, John Ford, brings with him over four decades of unparalleled experience in environmental compliance, natural resources management, and geospatial data integration across the Indo-Pacific region. Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, John’s addition marks the beginning of Scout’s future growth in the Indo-Pacific region.
Throughout his career, John has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary ability to lead and innovate. His experience spans multiple sectors, including public and private entities, where he has established and managed regional programs, recruited top talent, and built cohesive, high-performing teams. His strategic vision and expertise in business development have been instrumental in opening new offices and driving growth across diverse geographical areas including California, Arizona, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Samoa, Guam, China, Japan, Okinawa, and the Republic of Korea.
John is a recognized leader in the field, known for his scientific contributions to environmental planning and compliance practices. His work includes designing and leading biological surveys, ecosystem restoration projects, endangered species consultations, and the management of large-scale geospatial data systems for U.S. defense commands in the Pacific Rim. His ability to liaise with foreign governments and navigate complex regulatory landscapes has earned him a reputation as a trusted and effective advocate for environmental stewardship.
We are excited about the wealth of knowledge and experience John brings to Scout. John has an M.S. in Zoology (Limnology) and a B.A. in Zoology (Marine Biology) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, an executive certificate in Natural Resources Management from Penn State University, and an invited internship with the Japan External Trade Relations Organization (JETRO), further highlighting his commitment to excellence. His active involvement in numerous professional societies underscores his dedication to advancing the field of environmental science.

- Led comprehensive environmental planning and compliance projects for U.S. defense commands, integrating cutting-edge geospatial data technologies.
- Conducted and oversaw critical biological surveys and ecosystem restoration initiatives, positively impacting numerous endangered species and habitats.
- Played a pivotal role in securing and managing multimillion-dollar contracts, including a $65M Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific (NAVFACPAC) environmental planning services contract.
- Authored and contributed to over 25 scientific research papers and technical studies, demonstrating a profound impact on the field of environmental science.
